What is the best way to deal with the "second tier" wedding invitations?
This happened several times: a kind friends or people I work with get married and I sent an invitation may be a week or less before the event – a guy left on my desk yesterday! What happens obviously, is that some of your guests RSVP'd unable to attend, and they want paid to fill all the seats at your reception – with gift-caregivers. With due respect to their "Happily Ever After" The Future Together I think it is rude and presumptuous to think that I will perform in the last minute. My usual response is to email or call and say that I have other plans, and not to send gifts. Does anyone have a better way to handle these situations? Thank you.
