Town Lake or S. Congress? which is closest (on foot) to the 6th?

I went to Austin once last year and remained Motel in Austin. It was so great, but unfortunately, there are 3 more weddings on weekends I go to the city … Now, the only solutions affordable for me is more in Hostel Lake City or San Jose, right next to the Austin Motel. We are three girls and not drive if we do a lot of walking. Does someone knows what is the distance Closer Walk? Town Lake or S. Congress? Or the same? I headed toward the center of the Austin Motel (took about 1 / 2 hours), no problem Lake City is much further? I am a New Yorker, and answer all your questions about New York with his help.
